JOB SUMMARY The Director of Procurement will provide enterprise-wide leadership for all supply planning disciplines including procurement, sourcing, inventory management, vendor management, logistics, and will serve as subject matter expert for each.
Overall objectives include driving material cost reduction, fostering mutually beneficial supplier relationships, facilitating supplier quality, and building a well-equipped, professional, service-focused supply planning organization.
The Director of Procurement serves as the corporate leader in the development of initiatives to improve supply planning processes based on industry best practices and a continuous improvement mindset.
The Director of Procurement leads their department personnel to achieve department and company goals focused on servicing Dutch Valley Foods customers and providing stewardship of all resources.
The Director of Procurement works closely with peers across the organization to ensure processes and activities are fully integrated.
This role is responsible for hiring all direct reports, monitoring, and reviewing the performance of staff, and organizing the necessary training and assistance for the improvement of members of the team.
Functional
Responsibilities:
Support LEAN culture and operations using technology and best practices, drive efficiency in the quoting, purchasing, shipping, receiving, and restocking processes.
Serve as the corporate leader in process review and process development to ensure Dutch Valley Foods maintains industry best practices in all aspects of sourcing.
Ensure Buyers negotiate with vendors to achieve best bracket pricing and efficient logistics.
Drive and support supplier scorecards and supplier risk assessment programs.
Lead corporate efforts to maximize vendor support of promotional programs and other vendor funds to include tracking of key metrics.
Using market indicators, intelligence, and trade literature, collect evidence for and model forward-looking cost behavior.
Regularly monitor news media outlets, market periodicals, and other sources of industry information to gain further insight into materials cost characteristics.
Become subject matter expert for categorical cost-drivers.
Instills a culture of customer service and stewardship of resources.
Actively involved in the hiring, management, and development of department personnel Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education:
Preferred, MBA:
Supply Chain, Finance, and Accounting.
Minimum, Bachelors degree in relevant major 10-15 years of procurement / sourcing experience.
Experience preferred in Wholesale Food, Food Distribution, and Grocery Industry.
Track record of leading process improvements in the areas of Supply Planning & Replenishment Highly experienced user of key performance indicators to manage all aspects of Sourcing.
Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
Problem solving skills are very developed, is a driven solution finder.
Demonstrated ability to manage in a company culture based on integrity, trust, service & generosity.
An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards.
A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.

Experienced with JD Edwards or other ERP systems (SAP, etc).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
