Responsibilities:
Assist Veterinarian on examinations, surgeries and other medical procedures-Administer meds, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the Vet.
Perform lab tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal exams-Prepare animals for surgery, including pre-op bloodwork and monitoring anesthesia-Monitor vital signs of animals during procedures & recovery.
Maintain accurate medical records for all patients, educate foster and staff(if needed)on proper animal care & medication administration.
Handle and restrain animals during exams and procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic.
Assist with cleaning surgical and medical equipment, packing/sterilizing instruments, properly cleaning surgical clinic.
Perform basic in house lab tests such as snap tests, urine, and other tests deemed appropriate by the Veterinarian or technician, complete forms for laboratory, file tab reports and cleaning lab area.
Communicate any staff or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
Excellent listening and communication skills, strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations, able to multi task.
Ability to act as a team player.
